Women suffering from abuse often feel badly about themselves, and guilty or ashamed. They may develop eating or sleeping disorders or feel constant fatigue due to tension in the relationship. Many victims of abuse feel depressed, anxious, angry, confused or suicidal.
“I went there because of abuse in my marriage and they were amazing.”
Children who witness abuse in their homes can be seriously affected. They may feel stressed and afraid. They are at risk of being hurt themselves. They may blame themselves for the violence or feel guilty they can’t protect their mother. When they grow up, they may continue the cycle of violence.
Now is the time to ask for help.
No one deserves to be abused.
Help is just a phone call away.
Women’s Counselling programs are available in Sydenham, Verona and Kingston.
Resolve Counselling Services Canada receives funding from the Ministry of Community and Social Services to support the Women’s Counselling program.
